Yamaha India has reported strong double-digit growth in Q2 2026, selling more than 2.07 lakh two-wheelers in three months. The June 2026 figure alone crossed 66,000 units, up almost 50% year-on-year, although slightly lower than May.
For Nepali buyers, this matters because Yamaha Nepal sources most of its motorcycles and scooters from India. Rising Indian volumes, model mix changes, and new product introductions often translate into better availability — but also potential price revisions — in the Nepali market.
Which models are driving Yamaha’s growth?
- RayZR (bike/scooter) was Yamaha India’s top seller, contributing over 61,000 units in Q2 and more than 22,000 units in June. In Nepal, RayZR is already positioned as a sporty 125 cc family scooter. Strong Indian demand suggests the model is likely to remain a long-term pillar in Yamaha’s Nepal lineup, with regular feature updates rather than radical changes.
- FZ series (bike) delivered more than 40,000 units in Q2 in India. The FZ and FZ-S are among Yamaha’s key 150–160 cc commuters in Nepal. Continued volumes in India mean stable parts support and colour/feature refreshes here, even though growth is slower than other Yamaha products.

- R15 and MT15 (bike) together contributed over 54,000 units in Q2, with R15 nearly doubling year-on-year. These 155 cc performance bikes are popular in Nepal among enthusiasts who want track-style styling and VVA engine tech. Strong Indian numbers usually help keep supply steady, though pricing in Nepal (often above Rs 5 lakh) is unlikely to soften, given high demand and import costs.
- Fascino (scooter) also showed robust growth in India. The Fascino 125 is sold in Nepal as a more retro-styled alternative to RayZR. The Indian upswing suggests Yamaha will keep investing in this platform, which should support continued availability of BS6-phase updates in the Nepali market.
New XSR and EC06: Could they come to Nepal?
- XSR (bike), Yamaha’s neo-retro offering based on the R15/MT15 platform, has quickly added over 17,000 units in Q2 in India. Given that Nepal already sells R15 and MT15, XSR is a plausible future candidate for Nepali launch as a premium retro option above Rs 6 lakh, if Indian demand stays strong and regional supply is secured.
- EC06 electric scooter (bike/scooter) is still at very low volumes in India but shows Yamaha testing EV waters. Nepal’s small yet growing electric two-wheeler segment is currently dominated by Chinese and local brands. If EC06 volumes rise and Yamaha builds a regional EV strategy, it could open the door for a factory-backed Yamaha EV scooter in Nepal, likely priced higher than current Chinese imports due to brand positioning.
New MotoGP Editions in India
Yamaha has introduced new MotoGP-style editions of the R15 V4 and MT-15 Version 2.0 in India, featuring racing-inspired designs. These editions, priced at INR 1,76,050 for the R15 V4 and INR 1,77,230 for the MT-15, enhance the appeal of these models with their factory racing aesthetics. Additionally, the FZ-S FI Hybrid and Standard models receive new color options, adding to their sporty and premium looks. Although the mechanical features remain unchanged, these updates could influence the Nepali market by increasing demand for similar editions.
What it means for prices and choices in Nepal
- High Indian demand for RayZR, R15, and MT15 reduces the likelihood of deep discounts in Nepal, as these models are already supply-constrained in some Indian states.
- Strong overall Yamaha growth makes it easier for the company to justify bringing niche models like XSR to Nepal, targeting enthusiasts willing to pay a premium.
- On the EV side, early experiments like EC06 hint that Yamaha could eventually offer a branded electric scooter in Nepal, but timing and price will depend on how fast India’s EV volumes grow.
For now, Nepali buyers can expect continued focus on RayZR, FZ, R15, MT15, and Fascino, with incremental updates and possible future additions like XSR — rather than immediate price cuts — as Yamaha consolidates its position in the region.
