BYD has launched the updated Atto 1 in Nepal, known as the Seagull in China, featuring a redesigned interior and enhanced specifications. The facelifted model, showcased at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026, now includes a 360-degree camera and foldable ORVMs. The interior has been significantly revamped with a dual-layer center console and a large center-mounted infotainment screen, replacing the traditional dashboard display. This new design provides additional storage space underneath the console, while key physical buttons remain below the center air vents. The steering wheel has been redesigned with angular, squirrel-shaped buttons, and the seat colors have been attractively updated.

Where it sits in BYD’s Nepal line-up
It is the most affordable BYD EV currently listed in Nepal. It sits below the Dolphin at Rs 41.15 lakh–Rs 48.99 lakh, the Atto 2 EV at Rs 48.99 lakh, the Atto 3 at Rs 52.99 lakh–Rs 67.80 lakh, the M6 at Rs 55 lakh–Rs 58.90 lakh, and the Sealion 7 at Rs 79.85 lakh.
The Atto 1 comes in two variants: Dynamic at Rs 29.75 lakh and Premium at Rs 33.80 lakh. The Dynamic uses a 30.08 kWh battery with a 230 km range. The Premium gets a 38.88 kWh battery and a 300 km range.
Both variants use a 45 kW electric motor and support AC and DC charging. The hatchback measures 3,780 mm in length, 1,715 mm in width, 1,580 mm in height, and has a 2,500 mm wheelbase.
The refreshed model is larger, measuring 4,205 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and 1,570 mm in height, with a wheelbase increased by 150 mm to 2,650 mm. This increase in dimensions should translate into significantly improved rear-seat legroom and luggage capacity. Depending on the variant, the vehicle weighs between 1,180 kg and 1,255 kg.
The new Atto 1 rides on 205/60 R16 tires, which are wider than those used on the current Chinese-market model. It also features a more powerful front-mounted electric motor producing 95 kW (127 hp), up from the current model's top output of 55 kW (75 hp), and has a top speed of 150 km/h.
The electric hatchback will use an LFP battery supplied by Shaoxing FinDreams Battery, a BYD subsidiary. Battery capacity and range figures have not yet been revealed, but BYD is expected to continue using its proven Blade Battery with LFP chemistry. The model uses a 400V electrical architecture and will not support BYD's Flash Charging technology.
Spy images and regulatory photos reveal a more mature design language, and BYD is expected to equip higher variants with its latest intelligent driving features.
Distributed by Cimex Inc., the Atto 1 is a popular and award-winning compact electric hatchback designed for urban driving in Nepal. The new camera system makes parking easier, adding to its appeal for city dwellers.
