Tata Safari EV spied in India – What this three-row electric SUV could mean for Nepal

Tata Motors’ long‑rumoured Safari EV three‑row electric SUV has been spotted testing again in India, this time with a dashboard that appears to house a triple‑screen layout similar to the Sierra EV and equipment aimed at rivaling the Mahindra XEV 9S. According to spy‑shot reports, the Safari EV is likely to share much of its hardware with the Harrier EV, including 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery options and a dual‑motor all‑wheel‑drive setup with up to 500 Nm, plus features such as Level‑2+ ADAS, self‑park, summon mode, 540‑degree camera, 14.5‑inch Samsung OLED display, V2L/V2V and terrain modes.

In Nepal, the current Tata Safari diesel already sits at the top of Tata’s SUV range, priced between Rs 121 lakh and Rs 131 lakh across variants such as Accomplished+ Manual (Rs 121.99 lakh), Accomplished+ MT (Rs 121 lakh), Accomplished+ AT (Rs 129 lakh) and Accomplished+ Dark Edition Automatic (Rs 131 lakh). An electric Safari, if and when it arrives, would slot well above Tata’s existing EVs like the Curvv EV at Rs 56.99–58.99 lakh, Nexon EV K3 at Rs 48.99 lakh, Punch EV at Rs 37.99–39.99 lakh, Punch at Rs 39.99 lakh and XPRES‑T EV at Rs 38.49 lakh, effectively becoming Tata’s flagship family EV for Nepali buyers.

For Nepal, the key questions are timing and price. Tata Motors is reportedly targeting an India launch around Diwali as its first three‑row electric SUV, following the addition of a turbo‑petrol to the Safari earlier this year. There is no official confirmation from Tata’s Nepali distributor yet, so any Nepal arrival remains speculative. However, given Nepal’s reliance on India‑built Tata SUVs and the existing presence of Safari diesel and multiple Tata EVs here, the Safari EV is a plausible future import once right‑hand‑drive production for India is stabilised.

If it reaches Nepal, the Safari EV’s combination of three‑row seating, premium features and long‑range battery options would create a new, higher price band above today’s Curvv EV and Nexon EV K3, targeting buyers who currently look at diesel Safari or other large three‑row SUVs but want to switch to electric without sacrificing space or comfort.
