Kia has officially opened bookings for the Syros EV in Nepal, marking its entry as the most affordable electric vehicle in Kia's lineup in the country. The launch was announced by Continental Trading Enterprises at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026. The Syros EV is priced at Rs 37.90 lakh, but the first 100 customers can avail of a special introductory price of Rs 35.90 lakh during the expo.

The NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026 concluded with one of the largest crowds in the history of auto shows in Nepal. Despite the Kia Syros EV not being physically present at the expo, it garnered significant attention. Continental Trading announced a price of Rs 3.599 million, and more than 700 units were booked within four days, a remarkable feat considering customers had not seen the car.

In Kia’s Nepal lineup, the Syros EV sits below the Kia Sonet range, which is priced from Rs 35.90 lakh to Rs 63.90 lakh. Kia also offers the Carens from Rs 48.90 lakh, the Seltos from Rs 49.90 lakh, the Sportage from Rs 65.90 lakh, and the Niro at Rs 69.90 lakh.

The Syros EV is powered by a 42 kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack, producing 99 kW (135 PS) and 255 Nm of torque. It offers a claimed driving range of up to 443 km under the MIDC testing cycle and supports CCS2 charging. The model supports 100 kW DC fast charging, with Kia claiming a 10% to 80% charging time of about 39 minutes. It also features 197 mm ground clearance and uses Kia’s K1 platform.

Design changes over the petrol version include Kia’s Digital Tiger Face, a closed front grille, Star Map LED DRLs, a revised bumper, the charging flap on the front-left side, vertically oriented Ice Cube LED headlamps, 16-inch dual-tone aero alloy wheels, and flush-type door handles. At the rear, it gets EV badging, Star Map LED tail lamps, a triangular windshield element, and a black bumper.

Inside, the main highlight is a 30-inch triple-screen setup, comprising a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, and a 5-inch climate-control display. The HTK variant includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a four-speaker audio system with two tweeters, a column-mounted shift-by-wire selector, paddle shifters for regenerative braking, rear AC vents, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and four USB-C ports.

Depending on the variant, the Syros EV can also get a panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon eight-speaker audio, ventilated front and rear seats, a powered driver’s seat, Kia Connect 2.0 with more than 95 connected features, OTA updates, wireless phone charging, a smart dashcam, a 360-degree camera, and V2L support.

Kia Carens

Safety equipment includes up to six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist control, tire pressure monitoring, rear parking sensors, a virtual engine sound system, a 360-degree camera, blind-view monitor, side parking sensors, and, on selected variants, a Level 2 ADAS package with 16 functions.

The high booking numbers suggest a shift in consumer perception towards Indian-made EVs, with brands like Tata, Mahindra, Hyundai, and Kia gaining traction against Chinese competitors. However, it remains to be seen how many of these bookings will convert into actual sales, as only around 30% of auto show bookings typically do.
