Kathmandu – The 18th NADA Auto Show 2026 opened today at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, marking the Golden Jubilee edition of the event organized by the NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal. The six-day exhibition, running from August 25 to 30, was inaugurated by Vice President Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav.

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle recently unveiled the Yatri P2, a Nepal-designed and made electric scooter, at the Sipradi Yatri factory in Budhanilkantha. The P2, developed and manufactured entirely in Nepal, stands out from electric vehicles that are merely assembled in the country. Wagle praised the work of Nepali engineers and designers, describing the P2 as a “world-class product” that challenges the perception that Nepal cannot develop competitive products without foreign reliance.

Sipradi Yatri has started accepting pre-bookings for the P2 at the NADA Auto Show 2026 and through their official website. All pre-bookings are 100% refundable. Although the company has not yet announced the official price of the scooter, the pricing will be officially announced on September 17, giving customers more time to explore the scooter and its different configurations following its NADA debut. The company plans to start deliveries from October.

The P2 was shown to media at an exclusive preview on August 24, 2026, and is the first product from the joint venture between Sipradi and Yatri Motorcycles. The P2 is built around a mid-drive PMSM motor, chosen for its ability to handle Nepal's challenging terrains. A power-dense, actively cooled three-phase controller sends 315 Nm of torque to the wheel through a 7.12 final-drive ratio, ensuring continuous power on climbs. It offers 10 kW of peak power and a 90 km/h top speed.

The scooter features a 90 mm-travel front fork and dual progressive rear shocks, with dual disc brakes featuring a 240 mm ventilated front rotor and a 220 mm ventilated rear. It rides on 14-inch alloy wheels.

The P2 uses an advanced LG lithium-ion pack rated IP67, available in three sizes: 3 kWh (90 km), 3.7 kWh (112 km), and 5.2 kWh (157 km of city range). The largest configuration offers a range of up to 207 km. Yatri's DC fast-charging network spans 30 cities, allowing the battery to reach 80 percent in about 41 minutes. Riders can also use a 1350 W onboard AC charger with Optimized, Eco, and Quick modes, all reaching 80 percent in under 2.5 hours.

The P2 supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, featuring a 7-inch TFT LED instrument cluster with 4G connectivity and real-time energy monitoring. Notably, it includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Its battery management system has been certified by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). The scooter gets a 1,390mm wheelbase, designed to improve stability at higher speeds and on uneven roads, and provides a spacious legroom area. It rides on 14-inch alloy wheels and has 175mm of ground clearance, suited to Nepal's varied road conditions. The scooter's gradeability is 21 degrees, making it suitable for challenging terrains.

Built with a high-strength automotive steel dual-cradle trellis frame, the P2 ensures durability and stability. It is equipped with dual disc brakes featuring CBS (Combi-Brake System), and a high-strength steel frame. The scooter measures 165 mm of ground clearance, has a seat height of 775 mm, a floor height of 320 mm, 30 litres of boot space, and a kerb weight of 140 kg.

The companion app extends all of that into a rider's pocket: proximity-based keyless start, live vehicle and charger location, route planning built around state of charge, fuel-savings and carbon-offset tracking, digital payments for service, and a Riderverse community with its own events and leaderboard.

If the P2 detects a fall, it cuts power, and if the impact is hard enough, it shares the vehicle's location with an emergency contact. A Class-D projector LED headlamp with a floating position lamp keeps it visible and comfortable at night, and a regen-responsive tail light does the same in traffic. Walk away from a parked P2 and its anti-theft suite takes over with armed alerts, movement notifications, live tracking, and remote immobilization. For the everyday ride, there is terrain-adapting cruise control, three ride modes named Suste, Thikka, and Babbal, reverse, three levels of regenerative braking, hill hold, a 45 W device charger, and 30 litres of LED-lit boot space under a 775 mm seat. The electronics and embedded systems are AIS-standard certified by ARAI, Pune.

Yatri's founder and CEO Asim Pandey briefed the minister on the scooter's design, safety testing, components, and test findings. Sipradi Trading CEO Rajanbabu Shrestha highlighted the significance of designing and producing electric two-wheelers in Nepal. The scooter has been tested in challenging hill and Himalayan terrain, and its chassis went through multiple rounds of design and testing, with around 15 to 20 prototypes built.

The two-wheeler segment at the show will also see new launches, including the much-anticipated Yamaha XSR 155 motorcycle, which features a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), producing 18.4 PS and 14.2 Nm of torque. Other brands like Hero, Vida, and Vespa will also display their latest models.

The exhibition is divided into dedicated areas for four-wheelers, two-wheelers, financial institutions, auto parts, and garage equipment, as well as the 'Made in Nepal/Made for Nepal' and International Business Pavilion. NADA expects around 200,000 visitors during the event, with general entry priced at Rs 200 and student tickets at Rs 150, available online through the Khalti app.

With demand for electric scooters growing rapidly in Nepal, the locally developed P2 is expected to attract strong attention. Its “Made in Nepal” identity and Nepal-focused design could make it one of the highlights of the event. Yatri has confirmed that the company is offering an 8-year or 80,000 km battery warranty, enhancing its appeal to potential buyers. The P2 also includes an integrated tyre pressure monitoring system and an outdoor speaker with configurable sound profiles, offering practical features for riders.
