Nepal’s electric car market has moved beyond premium SUVs.
Where these mini EVs sit in each brand’s Nepal line-up
For MG, the Comet EV is the entry point to the brand’s electric range. Prices run from Rs 18.75 lakh to Rs 22.74 lakh ex-showroom across four trims (Pace, Executive, Play and Excite). It slots well below MG’s larger EVs such as the MG Windsor at Rs 37.99–44.99 lakh, MG4 at Rs 41.49–49.99 lakh, MGS5 EV at Rs 43.99–55.99 lakh, and the ZS EV at Rs 48.49–71.99 lakh.
Wuling now has two compact EV options close together. Higher up the ladder is the Wuling Xingxiang; the Binguo, Eksion EV and Darion EV prices have not been announced in the source material provided.
Kaiyi’s e-Qute 02 is the brand’s compact electric entry for Nepal, distributed by Laxmi E-Mobility and G.O. Automobiles. Current market data puts the long-range e-Qute 02 around the low-20 lakh bracket ex-showroom, directly in the same band as the Comet and Wuling Mini EV.

Kaiyi e-Qute 02: feature-heavy city EV

Key numbers: about 300 km claimed range (CLTC), 40 kW motor, around mid-20 lakh ex-showroom.
Kaiyi positions the e-Qute 02 as a small electric car for urban families who still want four proper doors and a usable cabin. It runs a 40 kW permanent magnet motor, paired in its extended-range version with a 28.08 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. The long-range variant carries a claimed 300 km range on the CLTC cycle, with a lower-range version around 200 km for buyers who want to save some money.
Size-wise, the e-Qute 02 is a compact city car. Length is about 3.3 metres, width around 1.7 metres and height roughly 1.6 metres, with a wheelbase a little over 2.1 metres. Ground clearance is about 165 mm, enough for most city speed breakers.
Inside, the car leans on tech. It gets a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen, a digital instrument panel, four hi-fi speakers, USB and Type‑C charging, and push-button start. A 360‑degree camera and column-mounted gear selector help in tight city parking. Styling highlights include LED headlamps, flush door handles and an aerodynamic rear spoiler.
Safety kit is stronger than older small cars in this price band. The e-Qute 02 offers dual airbags, ABS and EBD, TPMS, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, hill-start assist and that full 360-degree camera.
MG Comet EV: smallest footprint, strong brand pull

Key numbers: 230 km claimed range, 17.3 kWh battery, prices from Rs 18.75 lakh to Rs 22.74 lakh ex-showroom.
The MG Comet EV is the tiniest of the three and the most affordable to get into. The Pace trim starts at Rs 18.75 lakh, with higher trims Executive (Rs 19.99 lakh), Play (Rs 21.50 lakh) and Excite (Rs 22.74 lakh).
A 17.3 kWh battery feeds a motor of about 31 kW, delivering a claimed 230 km range on a full charge. MG also supports fast charging up to around 45 kW, letting the car go from low charge to full in under an hour under ideal conditions.
The Comet is designed to be very compact. Length is just under 3 metres, width around 1.5 metres and height roughly 1.64 metres, with a 2,010 mm wheelbase and 165 mm ground clearance. This footprint makes it easy to slot into tight parking in Kathmandu and other dense cities.

Cabin tech is a strong point for the Comet. It uses a 10.25‑inch touchscreen paired with a 10.25‑inch digital instrument cluster, voice command support and a multi‑function steering wheel. Outside, the car gets dual vertically stacked headlamps, LED DRLs and LED tail lamps, giving it a distinctive look on the road.
Safety features cover basics for this segment: two front airbags, ABS, EBD and a reverse parking camera. MG’s wider presence in Nepal with models like the ZS EV and MG4 may reassure buyers about service and parts support.
If a buyer values a well-known brand name, the smallest size and the lowest starting price, the Comet EV is the simplest entry into electric city driving.
Wuling Mini EV: more range choice and strong safety kit
Key numbers: 205–301 km claimed range, 16.2–25.1 kWh batteries, Rs 20.99–22.99 lakh ex-showroom.
The Wuling Mini EV is the newest of the three in Nepal’s mini‑EV space and was showcased at the NAIMA Mobility Expo in Kathmandu, with sales now live through Paramount Motors.
This four‑door mini EV measures around 3.27 metres in length, 1.52 metres in width and 1.575 metres in height, giving it a slightly larger footprint than the MG Comet while staying firmly in the city‑car bracket.
Power comes from a 30 kW three‑in‑one motor, with three driving modes — Standard, Eco and Sport — so drivers can pick between efficiency and response. Two battery choices are offered:
- Standard Range (16.2 kWh) — claimed 205 km on a full charge.
- Long Range (25.1 kWh) — claimed 301 km on a full charge.
Fast charging is a key selling point. The Mini EV supports DC fast charging, taking about 35 minutes to go from 30% to 80% in ideal conditions.
On features, the Wuling Mini EV includes mobile app connectivity, letting owners check vehicle status and some functions from their phone. Safety equipment is extensive for this size and price. The car gets two airbags, an electric parking brake, electronic stability control, hill‑hold assist, dynamic brake function, traction control, hydraulic brake assist and auto‑hold.
For buyers who want a choice between 200 km and 300 km variants plus a long list of electronic safety aids, the Wuling Mini EV offers the most structured range ladder of the three.
- The MG Comet EV is the cheapest way in, with a strong brand presence and very small footprint.
- The Kaiyi e-Qute 02 leans hardest on tech and screens and can deliver up to about 300 km claimed range, suiting those who value equipment density.
- The Wuling Mini EV splits the difference, offering two battery options, DC fast charging and one of the richest safety feature sets in this group.
