Hyundai has officially unveiled the new-generation Tucson. The updated SUV features a boxier exterior design and a larger body compared to the previous model.
Dimensions and Design
The new Tucson measures 185 inches in length, making it 2.3 inches longer than the outgoing version. The wheelbase has grown to 109.6 inches. The vehicle is also 1.57 inches wider at 75 inches and 0.8 inches taller at 66.3 inches. These changes provide more interior space, including an additional 1.1 inches of rear-seat headroom. The exterior is marked by sharper lines and illuminated H-shaped elements at the front and rear.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the cabin features the new Pleos infotainment system. A 12.9-inch central display comes as standard, while higher versions offer a 17-inch screen. A 9.9-inch digital instrument display is also included. Hyundai has retained physical controls below the central screen. Other interior updates include ambient lighting, wood trim, and perforated upholstery.
Powertrain Options
The 2027 Tucson will be available with three powertrain choices:
- Petrol: A 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 184 hp.
- Hybrid: Combines the 1.6-liter engine with an electric motor for a total of 233 hp.
- Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV): The most powerful option, producing 288 hp with an estimated 50 miles of electric-only range.
Petrol and hybrid models use an eight-speed automatic transmission with two- or four-wheel drive options. The PHEV includes a 7.2 kW onboard charger.
Market Positioning
In the current Nepali market, Hyundai offers a range of SUVs and crossovers. The existing Tucson petrol model is available in four variants, ranging from Rs 107.96 lakh to Rs 160.96 lakh. This places the Tucson above the Creta, which is priced between Rs 55.56 lakh and Rs 80.56 lakh, and the KONA, which ranges from Rs 59.96 lakh to Rs 64.96 lakh. It sits near the Ioniq 5.

While this new-generation model has been unveiled globally, local availability and the Nepal price have not been announced.
