Hongqi has officially entered the Nepali market with the launch of the EHS4 electric SUV, showcased at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026 through Advanced Automobile Pvt. Ltd. under Vishal Group. This marks a significant milestone for the Chinese luxury automotive brand as it expands its footprint in South Asia. Simultaneously, the Haval Jolion Max EV was also unveiled, both models entering the market at the same price of Rs 6 million. However, Hongqi introduced the EHS4 at a special NAIMA price of Rs 5.799 million, effectively making it more competitive in the market.
The EHS4 is powered by a 160 kW electric motor that delivers 240 Nm of torque, while the Jolion Max EV features a 150 kW front-wheel-drive motor producing 260 Nm of peak torque. The EHS4 offers a 67.1 kWh LFP battery pack with a WLTP-certified range of 420 km, whereas the Jolion Max EV has a 58.3 kWh battery and a 400 km WLTP range. The new source, however, notes a 420 km WLTP range for the EHS4, indicating a possible variation in testing or reporting.
In a significant development, Hongqi's EHS4 will adopt BYD's advanced Blade battery technology and flash charging capabilities. This collaboration between FAW and BYD marks the first time BYD's technology is being offered to an external company, enhancing the EHS4's appeal with improved battery safety and efficiency.
Charging capabilities for the EHS4 include DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 30 to 80 percent in just 20 minutes. The battery is designed with durability in mind, carrying an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. Additionally, the EHS4 supports a 3.3 kW V2L functionality, enabling the vehicle to power external electrical devices.
In terms of dimensions, the EHS4 measures 4,520 mm in length, 1,873 mm in width, and 1,647 mm in height, with a 2,750 mm wheelbase. The Jolion Max EV is slightly larger, measuring 4,590 mm in length, 1,877 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height.
The EHS4 is equipped with a range of premium features, including a panoramic glass roof, heated exterior mirrors, LED headlights, and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen. It also supports wireless charging, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The Jolion Max EV offers similar features with a 14.6-inch multimedia touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a panoramic sunroof.
Safety and driver-assistance technologies are comprehensive in both SUVs. The EHS4 features adaptive cruise control, lane-centering control, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot detection, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, and a 360-degree surround-view camera. The Jolion Max EV includes lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane change assist, front collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and a 360-degree camera.
With both SUVs priced at Rs 6 million, the choice ultimately depends on the buyer's priorities. The Hongqi EHS4 appears more attractive for buyers prioritizing a larger battery, longer driving range, and higher motor output, while the Haval Jolion Max EV offers a slightly larger body and higher torque.
Hongqi's entry into Nepal is further highlighted by an exclusive launch offer. Customers booking the EHS4 during the auto expo will receive a cash discount of Rs. 200,000, along with included insurance, effectively pricing the vehicle at Rs. 5.799 million. This offer underscores Hongqi's commitment to establishing a strong presence in the Nepali market.
During the expo, Hongqi also showcased its premium electric vehicle lineup, including the flagship E-HS9 electric SUV. This announcement confirms the brand's official presence and the commencement of its operations in the country's luxury electric vehicle sector.
