Nissan has introduced the Tekton compact SUV in India, showcasing its capabilities with a 3-day, 700 km media drive from Chandigarh to Leh over challenging Himalayan roads. This new model is based on the **Renault Duster platform**, which has been popular in Nepal for its off-road capabilities and ground clearance.

Key Features and Specifications

• Engine Options: The Tekton offers a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo-petrol (manual only) and a 1.3L 4-cylinder turbo-petrol with up to 163 PS and a 6-speed manual or 6-speed wet DCT automatic.
• Design and Build: It features 18-inch alloys, connected LED tail-lamps, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, rear AC vents, and a Google-built-in 10.1-inch infotainment system.
• Performance: The Tekton has been noted for its solid build, good ride quality, and no rattles even on rough mountain terrain, although rear seat space is average.

Potential for the Nepali Market

Nissan Nepal has not yet made an official announcement regarding the Tekton's launch in Nepal. However, given that Nepal imports most mass-market SUVs from India, the Tekton, with its proven Himalayan credentials, is a logical candidate for future introduction. If imported, the Tekton could be priced between Rs 45–85 lakh in Nepal, depending on the variant and after adding customs, excise, and VAT.
