Federation delegation returns from China with new insights
A team from the Nepal Auto Mechanics Business Federation has successfully completed an 11-day technical observation tour in China, aimed at learning about the latest automotive and workshop technologies that can be applied in Nepal.
According to the Federation’s announcement, the delegates visited the APEAS Auto Parts Expo Shanghai 2026 and several leading Chinese vehicle and component manufacturers. The tour was not just a visit but a comprehensive study of modern production technologies, quality management, and emerging automotive technologies.
What the team studied in China
During the visit, the delegation focused on:
- Modern auto parts: new-generation components for passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles
- Garage and workshop equipment: diagnostic tools, lifting systems, body repair equipment, and other machinery used in professional service centres
- Electric vehicle (EV) technology: battery systems, motors, controllers, and charging solutions used in Chinese EVs
- Production systems: how large manufacturers organize assembly lines, quality control, and parts logistics
- International best practices: safety standards, environmental norms, and service processes followed in advanced markets
The Federation emphasized that the team gained direct, hands-on exposure to these technologies and practices, rather than only theoretical presentations.
Visit supported by Nepal distributor
The programme included factory visits to SRM and Joylong, companies known for producing buses and other commercial vehicles, especially in the electric segment. The Federation has thanked BG Motors, the official distributor of these brands in Nepal, for arranging access to the plants and coordinating the study tour.
Why this matters for Nepali vehicle owners
For Nepali car, bus, and bike owners, the key expected benefits are:
- Better-trained mechanics with exposure to EV systems, advanced diagnostics, and modern repair methods
- More capable workshops, as garage owners see new equipment options and learn how to use them effectively
- Improved reliability and safety of repairs, as mechanics adopt international standards and structured service procedures
- Stronger Nepal–China cooperation in auto technology, which could support future investments in charging infrastructure, parts supply, and training.
The Federation’s leadership, including President Gopal Bhattarai, has expressed hope that the knowledge, skills, and international contacts gained in China will be actively applied in Nepal – not just in big city workshops, but gradually across the broader mechanics community.
For buyers planning to shift to electric vehicles in the coming years, such initiatives are important to ensure that service and repair capabilities keep pace with rapidly changing vehicle technology.
The Federation has highlighted the importance of using the knowledge and experience gained from the tour to enhance the skills, technology development, and business transformation of the Nepali automobile and auto mechanics sector. The tour also strengthened relationships among participants from various districts and regions of Nepal, fostering unity and collaboration.
