VG Impex, the official distributor of GWM vehicles in Nepal, has set a target to sell more than 1,500 units in the current fiscal year and push the brand into Nepal’s Top 5 auto names.
EVs, hybrids and premium SUVs coming
The plan rests on a broader line-up that spans electric cars and SUVs, plug-in hybrids and premium SUVs. Ora 5 and Haval Jolion Max EV are now positioned as the flagship EVs, backed by the Ora 3 electric hatchback for buyers who prefer a smaller city-focused car.
VG Impex also aims to bring Haval H6 (N-7) and Tank series models from GWM’s premium range, along with more Ora variants and extra Jolion trims, to cover everything from entry-level to luxury brackets beyond the usual Rs 40–50 lakh band.

Hatchback interest lifts Ora 3
Customer interest in hatchbacks is starting to rise again, helped by the response at recent auto expos. Existing Ora 3 owners have reportedly given positive feedback on driving feel, design and usable range. That word-of-mouth, VG Impex says, has made it easier for the market to accept the newer Ora 5.
Dealer push to 15 outlets
Network expansion is central to the 1,500-unit goal. VG Impex currently runs six outlets and plans to grow this to 15 by September, with new showrooms and service points in Pokhara, Narayangarh, Biratnagar, Dhangadhi, Bhairahawa and Itahari. A showroom inauguration drive is set to start immediately.
Rays Motors Pvt. Ltd. has inaugurated a new dealership in Pokhara, introducing two new electric vehicles: the GWM Ora 5 and Haval Jolion Max EV. The GWM Ora 5 features a 58.3 kWh battery with a WLTP range of up to 435 km and includes advanced safety and driver-assistance features. The Haval Jolion Max EV is powered by a 150 kW electric motor and a 58.3 kWh battery, offering a range of over 400 km and features like a panoramic sunroof, a 14.6-inch infotainment system, ADAS, and V2L functionality.

The new dealership offers comprehensive 3S facilities—Sales, Service, and Spare Parts—under one roof, aiming to boost GWM’s presence in Pokhara and provide local customer support.

Heavy focus on after-sales
The distributor says it is investing heavily in after-sales, anchored by its own service centre in Kathmandu. It is putting stock availability, fair parts pricing and timely repair work at the core of its brand-building effort.
With more than three dozen Chinese brands already active in Nepal, VG Impex is betting on GWM’s global track record, product quality and battery technology to win trust. Based on this plan, the desk’s judgement is that GWM’s Top 5 ambition is aggressive but plausible if the EV momentum and dealer rollout stay on schedule.
Haval Jolion Max EV: A Closer Look
The Haval Jolion Max EV is priced at Rs 5.99 million and stands out as a practical electric SUV for family use, particularly on Kathmandu roads. It measures 4,390 mm in length, 1,877 mm in width and 1,675 mm in height, with a 190 mm ground clearance. The Jolion Max EV supports 6.6 kW AC charging and DC fast charging. It features a 14.6-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument display. Parking is made easier with a 360-degree camera and front and rear parking sensors.
