Preparations for the 18th NADA Auto Show 2026 have been finalized, with the six-day expo set for August 25–30 at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. This year marks a significant milestone as the NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal celebrates its Golden Jubilee, representing 50 years of Nepal's automotive industry.
Organised by the NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal, the show aims to gather Nepal’s wider automotive ecosystem under one roof, from vehicles to finance and components. HP Lubricants is serving as the Title Sponsor for this edition.
More than 200 stalls will be on display this year. These include 23 passenger vehicle brands, 17 light commercial vehicle brands, 13 two-wheeler brands, and 10 banks, financial institutions and insurance companies. Around 70 additional stalls will focus on components and services such as tires, lubricants, garage equipment, batteries, helmets and other automotive products, including locally assembled vehicles and lubricants.
Key attractions include the G1 humanoid robot and GO2 quadruped robot, along with a dedicated pavilion for Nepali-made products. This pavilion will showcase locally assembled motorcycles and electric scooters developed in collaboration with Yatri. Notably, the 'Made in Nepal/Made for Nepal' pavilion will feature electric motorcycles, automotive batteries, lubricants, and helmets from local producers like Yatri, Asian Batteries, Kohinoor Plastic Industries, Nepal Lube Oil, and Purwanchal Lube Oil. Separate zones will be set up for two-wheelers, four-wheelers, financial institutions, auto components and garage equipment. Several brands are expected to unveil new models during the show, showcasing the latest in mobility technologies and sustainable transport solutions.
Among the international brands, Geely Nepal showcased the Geely EX5 electric SUV at Stall No. G18. The brand engaged visitors with 'Feature Spotlight' videos, detailing the vehicle's specifications and performance.
The exhibition will cover an area of approximately 300,000 square feet, providing ample space for the diverse range of displays. The organizers expect around 200,000 visitors to attend the event, including automobile enthusiasts, industry professionals, and the general public.
Visitors can buy tickets in advance via the Khalti app, with a 50% cashback offer announced for a limited period. Parking for attendees will be available at the Nepal Police Club and National Trading premises. Additional facilities include a media desk, traffic information desk, and cafeteria to enhance the visitor experience. Safety measures such as fire control, emergency medical services, CCTV surveillance, and wheelchair-friendly structures will also be in place.
NADA's 50-year journey reflects the significant growth of Nepal's automotive sector, which now boasts around 5.5 million registered vehicles. In the past five fiscal years alone, Nepal imported vehicles and related materials worth approximately 470 billion NPR, contributing around 351 billion NPR in customs revenue. The country is also moving towards green mobility, with about 63,000 electric vehicles already in use and a network of 2,000 charging stations established.
According to NADA President Surendra Kumar Upreti, this Golden Jubilee edition is not just a celebration of an organization but a testament to the industry's contributions. "Fifty years is enough time to measure an industry not by how much it has sold, but by how well it has sustained," he stated. He also emphasized the need for Nepal to move beyond being just a vehicle importing country to developing a complete mobility ecosystem. Upreti highlighted the importance of locally assembled and produced vehicles, noting the successful operation of assembly industries and the potential for increased domestic production in the coming decade.
NADA was initially established in 1975 under the leadership of businessman Tolaram Dugad and has evolved significantly over the years. It now serves as a crucial platform for policy advocacy, government-industry dialogue, and promoting new technologies, including EVs and green mobility.
