Where It Sits In The Nepali Market

The Tata Punch EV facelift has launched in Nepal through Sipradi Trading, debuting at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026. Prices now start at Rs 33.99 lakh, with the top variant priced at Rs 37.99 lakh, making it up to Rs 4 lakh cheaper than the previous model. This pricing adjustment positions the Punch EV more competitively within the mid-size electric SUV territory, rather than the small-car segment its name suggests.

This price reduction is a significant shift for Nepali buyers, who are now getting a compact, feature-loaded electric SUV that shares its silhouette and badge with a much cheaper petrol model. Additionally, the Punch EV can now be bought with a monthly EMI of around Rs. 28,210 under a financing plan offered during the expo, making it even more accessible.

Looks, Design And Build

The facelifted Punch EV features several exterior updates, including 16-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels and connected LED tail lights, inspired by Tata's larger electric models. The charging port remains behind a motorised, illuminated Tata logo at the front, adding a sense of occasion every time you plug in.

The basic dashboard design remains familiar, but Tata has added new trim finishes and an updated dual-tone theme, enhancing the cabin's premium feel.

Colours Available

Showroom stock and demonstration units seen locally lean towards a dual-tone white-with-black-roof combination. A darker green shade has also been shown in off-road-oriented demonstrations.

Features And Equipment

The Punch EV facelift continues to impress with its features. Both variants now include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital driver's display. Additional features include wireless charging, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, connected-car technology, and a 360-degree camera.

Safety equipment has been enhanced with six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, tire pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, and high-beam assist.

Engine And Performance

The facelifted Punch EV offers two battery options: 32.99 kWh and 40 kWh, both with 5 kWh more capacity than the previous model. It supports 65 kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 20% to 80% in around 26 minutes. Tata claims that a 15-minute charge can provide up to 135 km of range.

Ride And Handling

The Punch EV's ride quality remains impressive, with softer damping and a stiffer EV-specific body structure that absorbs potholes and sharp road edges with composure.

Comfort And Ergonomics

Rear seat comfort benefits from a flat, sloping floor, and the ventilated front seats are a genuine comfort win. However, headroom remains a concern for taller passengers.

Braking And Safety

Four-wheel disc brakes feature on both variants, with a smooth transition between regenerative and friction braking. Safety features have been enhanced, making it a safer choice for Nepali roads.

Practicality

Boot space is usable, and the small frunk under the hood offers a dedicated spot for cables, keeping the main boot clear for luggage.

Running Costs

Tata's claimed range for the Long Range variants is 421 km, but real-world estimates suggest 270-290 km on a 35 kWh pack under typical mixed driving conditions.

Price, Variants And Which One To Buy

Three variants are now offered in Nepal, with prices starting at Rs 33.99 lakh and going up to Rs 37.99 lakh. The price reduction and enhanced features make the Punch EV facelift a more attractive option. Additionally, Sipradi is offering an extended warranty of up to 11 years or 220,000 km on Tata cars booked during the expo.

How It Compares With Rivals

Against its own petrol sibling, the EV is faster, smoother, and rides better. Its 195mm ground clearance and off-road manners give it an edge on rough terrain.

The Verdict And Who It Suits

The Tata Punch EV facelift is a genuinely accomplished small electric SUV. It is smooth, comfortable, well-equipped, and more affordable than before. For urban Nepali buyers seeking a premium-feeling, tech-loaded electric SUV for city use with occasional highway and rough-road capability, it is a compelling package.
