Tata’s Nano comeback talk stays unofficial
A senior Tata Motors design executive has again put the Nano nameplate back in the conversation, saying it could return in an electric avatar in the future. Tata Motors India Design Head Ajay Jain, in a conversation with ABP Auto Live, hinted at this possibility by saying, "We will try." While this is still unconfirmed, it has revived interest in a car that once stood for ultra-affordable urban mobility in India.
Where it would sit in Nepal

If Tata ever brings a Nano EV to Nepal, it would almost certainly sit below the Tata Tiago EV at Rs 27.49 lakh–Rs 29.99 lakh, and also below the Tata Punch EV at Rs 37.99 lakh–Rs 39.99 lakh and Tata Nexon EV K3 at Rs 48.99 lakh. Nepal already gets Tata EVs through the market. A Nano EV would make sense here only if it arrived as the brand’s new entry-level electric city car.
Why the idea has appeal

The original Nano was launched in India in 2009 and later went out of production in 2018, but the compact-car idea may fit today’s EV market better than it did then. Tata’s own electric lineup has already grown to include the Tiago EV, Punch EV, Nexon EV K3, Curvv EV, Harrier EV and Sierra EV. That leaves room for a cheaper model below Tiago EV.
A modern Nano EV, if Tata ever develops one, could be aimed at first-time buyers, two-wheeler upgraders, and families looking for a small second car for city use. For Nepali buyers, the point is simple: a Tata EV below Tiago EV could pressure pricing in the entry-level segment. Nepal pricing has not been confirmed.

What is actually known
Tata Motors had previously explored an electric version of the Nano in partnership with Coimbatore-based Jayem Automotive. The project resulted in the Jayem Neo, an electric version based on the Nano, featuring a 17 kWh battery pack and a claimed range of around 130 km. This project demonstrated that the Nano platform could be adapted for electric mobility.

Tata has not announced a Nano EV, a launch date, or any Nepal-specific plan. For now, this remains a rumour built on a public hint, not a product reveal.

Each is a dated change we applied to a published ex-showroom price after checking it. A logged change may be a distributor's revision or our own correction coming into line with the official figure — the log says which way each one moved, and when, not why.
