Suzuki is set to enter the Japanese electric kei car market with the new e SKY. The company confirmed that sales of this mini electric vehicle will start on November 16, 2026.
This model is the brand's first electric passenger vehicle in the kei category. It features a dedicated platform and an electric drive system designed for efficiency. The vehicle uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by BYD. Suzuki claims the e SKY offers a range of up to 310 km under the WLTC cycle and has an energy consumption rating of 97 Wh/km.
The e SKY will be available in two variants: A and X. The starting price for the A variant is expected to be around 12,99,000 INR, while the X variant is priced at 17,09,000 INR. If the vehicle qualifies for government subsidies, the effective cost could drop significantly.

Suzuki aims to sell about 1,000 units per month in Japan. This new model competes directly with the BYD Racco, which launched in Japan on July 28, 2026. The Racco starts at about $13,600. Both vehicles offer a longer range than the Nissan Sakura, which is priced from around $15,000 in the Japanese market.
Suzuki aims to capture a significant share of the growing electric mini car segment with this release. The e SKY represents a strategic move to provide an affordable electric option for local drivers. Additionally, Suzuki plans to launch the e SKY in the UK and Europe by 2027.
The e SKY's length is approximately 3,395 mm. There is speculation that if launched in the Indian market, the vehicle might have a larger battery capacity of 30-35 kWh to better compete with models like the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV.

Suzuki's expansion plans highlight its commitment to the electric vehicle market, aiming to reduce road accidents and promote sustainable transportation.
