BYD is expanding the reach of its Racco electric microcar beyond Japan. The company announced plans to introduce the model to international markets, with Sri Lanka and Macau selected as the first destinations.
Bookings for the Racco are already open in Macau. A formal launch event is scheduled for October 9 in Sri Lanka.
Developed specifically to meet Japan’s strict kei car standards, the Racco is designed for narrow urban streets. The manufacturer has confirmed it will prioritize other right-hand drive markets as it evaluates global demand. Since its Japanese debut two months ago, the Racco has secured nearly 2,000 orders.
While the Racco is now moving into new territories, BYD has not announced plans for a Nepal entry. The vehicle remains a Japan-focused product for now, and its availability in other regions depends on future market assessments.
