Seres changes Aito’s operating model
Seres Group has taken full control of Aito’s product definition, design, marketing, sales and after-sales work. Huawei is now limited to a technology-support role.
The change was announced on 2026-09-16 and takes effect immediately. Existing Aito owners are not expected to lose service support.
Why the shift happened
The move comes after Seres posted a sharp drop in first-half 2026 profit. Lower earnings and high fees paid to Huawei pushed the company to pull more of the business in-house.
Older deal terms reportedly gave Huawei up to US$7,500 per Aito vehicle and required more than 30% Huawei parts in the cars. That cost structure was a heavy burden for Seres.

For Nepali buyers, the key point is simple. Aito is now more tightly controlled by Seres, which may change how the brand is priced and sold in future markets.
