Nepal’s mid-range EV market is becoming one of the busiest price bands to watch ahead of NADA Auto Show 2026. The fight is centred on vehicles priced around Rs 3 million to Rs 4 million, where buyers are comparing not only cost but also range, battery size, ground clearance, cabin space and service support.
Where these models sit in Nepal
- BYD ATTO 1 is listed at Rs 29.75 lakh to Rs 33.80 lakh, placing it close to the BYD Dolphin, for which the distributor has not announced a price.
- Dongfeng Nammi Vigo is listed at Rs 35.99 lakh to Rs 43.99 lakh, and it sits above the Dongfeng Nammi Box, which is sold at Rs 30.24 lakh to Rs 36.75 lakh.
- Tata Punch EV is listed at Rs 33.99 lakh to Rs 37.99 lakh, slotting above the Tata Tiago EV at Rs 28.99 lakh to Rs 29.99 lakh and below the Tata Nexon EV at Rs 38.99 lakh to Rs 50.99 lakh.
The recent price cut on the Dongfeng Nammi Vigo has added extra pressure to this segment. Other models in the same competitive space include the Chery Q, Tata Tiago EV, Arcfox T1 and BYD Atto 1, making this one of the tightest EV price battles in Nepal.

Import Trends in Nepal
Nepal's electric vehicle market is increasingly shifting from small hatchbacks to compact and mid-size SUVs. Import data from January 1 to August 15, 2026, shows that 1,403 units of the BYD Atto 2 were imported during the period, making it the most imported model. The Dongfeng Nammi Vigo followed with 489 units, while the iCAUR V23 recorded 462 units. Similarly, 454 units of the Deepal S05 and 392 units of the Tata Punch EV were imported.
The BYD Atto 2 is well ahead of the other models in terms of imports. Its compact SUV design, high ground clearance, features like a rotating touchscreen, ventilated seats, Blade Battery technology and ADAS functions have helped attract buyers. The Nammi Vigo offers a balance of price and features, available in E2 and E2+ variants with prices starting at Rs 3.799 million.
The iCAUR V23 stands out with its boxy, rugged design and features a 59.93 kWh battery and a 100 kW rear-wheel-drive motor, offering a range of up to 401 km.
What buyers should watch at NADA
NADA Auto Show 2026 is set for August 25 to 30 at Bhrikutimandap. Brands are expected to use the event to push cash discounts, exchange bonuses, free accessories and financing offers.
BYD's official distributor in Nepal, Cimex BYD, has announced the 'BYD Grand Auto Fest 2026' to coincide with the festive season. The campaign offers customers a choice between a cash benefit or a free 3-year Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) package. The offer also includes a free spare tire, free accessories, and a 1-year BYD app connectivity subscription with entertainment features. Furthermore, BYD is providing a 10-year extended warranty and 1 year of free Auto Plus Insurance. Alongside these offers, the distributor has teased the upcoming 'Sealion 7' model and is participating in the NADA Auto Show 2026 to showcase the new 2026 Atto 3 variants.
The bigger question is whether the current price changes will remain limited-time offers or trigger longer-term price cuts. If more brands adjust pricing to stay competitive, buyers could see even stronger value in this bracket.

After bookings, delivery speed may become just as important as the headline price. Spare parts supply, service coverage, technician availability and resale value will also shape which EVs win in this segment.
