Ncell, BYD Nepal roll out IoT-powered connected car service
BYD’s electric vehicles sold in Nepal are now being offered with embedded Ncell Internet of Things (IoT) SIM cards to enable factory-style in-car connectivity.
Under the partnership, compatible BYD models delivered by official distributor Cimex Inc come with an IoT SIM installed inside the vehicle, providing direct internet access over Ncell’s nationwide mobile network without relying on an external hotspot or phone.
With the SIM active, drivers and passengers can use the car’s infotainment system to stream online video and music services and karaoke, run BYD’s own in-car apps and enjoy more reliable real-time GPS navigation during trips and in traffic.
This is not limited to new buyers. Existing BYD owners can visit any of 13 authorised BYD service centres across Nepal to have an Ncell IoT SIM fitted and unlock the supported connected features.
Data plans, validity and charges vary by vehicle model and chosen service package, so customers need to check plan details at the time of installation.
Ncell’s consumer business leadership highlights the move as a way to enhance smart connectivity, infotainment, safety and intelligent mobility in BYD cars, while Cimex’s management calls the collaboration a step towards giving owners easier access to the brand’s full suite of intelligent features.
