Nepal’s shift towards electric cars accelerated in Bhadau, with EVs accounting for 81.5% of all passenger car imports during the month.
Customs data shows that 2,145 electric cars, jeeps and vans entered Nepal in Bhadau. Their total value was Rs 5.09 billion, while the government collected Rs 3.23 billion in revenue. EV imports were more than three times the 689 units brought in during Shrawan.
Petrol, diesel and hybrid imports totalled 487 units. This included 428 petrol cars, 45 diesel cars and 14 hybrids. Their import value was Rs 1.35 billion, with Rs 3.31 billion paid in revenue.
Across Shrawan and Bhadau, Nepal imported 2,834 EVs worth Rs 6.70 billion and collected Rs 4.29 billion in revenue.
China remains the main source

China supplied 1,256 EVs worth Rs 3.05 billion in Bhadau. Brands included BYD, Chery, Omoda, Jaecoo, Nami, Arcfox, Leapmotor, MG, Ora, Haval and Skywell.
India supplied 540 units, mainly from Tata, Mahindra, Kia, MG and Suzuki. Thailand added 348 units, including Deepal models. One EV came from the United States.
Show bookings and upcoming Dashain–Tihar demand pushed importers to raise stock. With Rasuwagadhi and Tatopani affected by natural disasters, some vehicles entered through the Korala border point.
The figures show that EVs have become the first choice for most new-car buyers in Nepal’s current import cycle.
