Advance ticket bookings for long and medium-distance public transport officially started on October 9. Passengers have been gathering at the New Bus Park and other major departure points in Kathmandu to secure seats for the upcoming Dashain festival.
Authorities have implemented several safety measures for the festive rush:

- Two drivers are mandatory for all long-distance vehicles.
- Ticket staff must wear official uniforms and carry identification cards.
- Passengers must provide their names and contact numbers when purchasing tickets.
- Operators are prohibited from charging fares above the government-prescribed rates.

Officials strongly advise travelers to buy tickets only from authorized counters or recognized company representatives. To manage the increased demand, 15 passenger assistance desks have been set up across the Kathmandu Valley. Route permits for public vehicles will be open from October 11 through the end of the festival period. Large cargo vehicles will face movement restrictions on the Narayanghat-Kathmandu road section during this time to help ease traffic congestion.
