Tesla has set October 1 for a reveal of its next-generation Roadster. A teaser image with the line “Go for launch” and a 10.01 date now appears alongside a countdown on the Roadster page. Elon Musk confirmed the launch date on Tesla's official X account, adding weight to the anticipation.
That move has revived talk about the car’s long-discussed SpaceX-developed cold-gas thrusters and a brief lift-off demo. The cold-gas thruster technology will be demonstrated at SpaceX's McGregor rocket testing center. Tesla has not confirmed the event format, and the final production timeline is still open.
During the launch, Tesla may also showcase a limited edition variant of the Roadster, adding more excitement to the event. Roadster was first shown in November 2017 with a quoted starting price of USD 200,000, a USD 250,000 Founders Series, a claimed 620-mile range, and 0-60 mph in less than two seconds. Production was originally planned for 2020.
Over the years, the development process of the Roadster has seen significant changes. Initially, Tesla planned to base the car on some components from the Model S Plaid. However, the concept evolved, and the new Roadster is now being developed as a high-performance carbon fiber hypercar.
Adding to the excitement, Tesla has revealed a new active rear wing design that could be used on the Roadster. The wing can stay hidden inside the rear bodywork but can produce up to 700 kg of downforce when fully deployed. This detail comes from a new Tesla patent published by the US Patent and Trademark Office. The wing can rise and move backward in less than three seconds and can change its angle in less than a quarter of a second.

The system can automatically adjust the wing based on the car's speed, steering, braking, and other inputs. It can reduce the wing angle on straight roads and increase downforce while braking or cornering. Designed with safety in mind, the wing can retract if the car detects a possible rear-end crash or fold back if a strong impact occurs.
For Nepal buyers, this is still a global teaser, not a local launch. Nepal pricing has not been confirmed.
Verdict: exciting, but still only a tease for now.
