Suzuki is currently developing a cost-effective advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) specifically for regional road conditions. The company intends to make essential safety features standard across its future vehicle lineup rather than restricting them to premium models. Suzuki's CTO Katsushiro Kato emphasized the need for ADAS in all cars, not just luxury models, citing over 177,000 road accidents in India in 2024.

Engineers are focusing on a system that uses high-resolution cameras and AI chips. This approach avoids the higher costs associated with radar-based hardware. The technology will also include driver and occupant monitoring. Key features such as automatic emergency braking and lane departure prevention are expected to be standard, while comfort-focused options may remain exclusive to higher variants.

This development is part of the company's 'SDV Right' strategy for software-defined vehicles. The plan involves centralizing communication, power distribution, and body control functions into a single electronic control unit. This design change aims to reduce electronic architecture costs by 30% and lower vehicle weight by 15% compared to traditional multi-ECU setups.

Suzuki plans to include ADAS in budget cars, not just premium models. The company is still refining the system, and specific performance figures and the list of future models to receive this technology remain unconfirmed. However, the Suzuki Baleno facelift already includes ADAS features, and it is expected that other small and budget cars will also receive these modern safety features in the future.
