Heavy rainfall, floods, and landslides have severely disrupted the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road, leaving more than 500 cargo containers stranded between Lete and the Korala border. The blockage has also left over 100 electric vehicles parked at the Jomsom bus park.
Road damage across multiple locations in Myagdi, including Pokharebagar, Kunautey, and Baiseri, has halted movement. Technical teams from the Kaligandaki Corridor Road Project estimate that full restoration of the route will take another week. While some cargo-carrying containers have managed to reach Jomsom after local repairs on the Jomsom-Korala section, the primary link to the rest of the country remains severed.
These disruptions have also impacted customs operations at the Upper Mustang border office, as power and internet services were knocked out by the storm. The delay in transporting goods, including items intended for the Dashain and Tihar festivals, has affected both traders and consumers. Authorities are working to clear the debris to restore supply chains and allow the stranded vehicles to proceed.
