Global IME Bank has introduced a special auto loan package for visitors buying new vehicles at the NAIMA Mobility Expo 2026. Global IME Bank is offering auto loans at a minimum interest rate of 5.25%, which is among the lowest rates seen in Nepal. Eligible buyers can get financing at a premium of as low as 0.5% over its base rate, which is currently 4.75%. If the base rate changes, the loan rate will change automatically.
For new EV purchases at the expo, Global IME has set a fixed 5.99% rate for three years. After that, the loan will move to the bank’s base rate plus a maximum premium of 2%. A dedicated stall has been set up at the expo for loan applications, and Global IME Bank says customers can receive a loan approval letter within three days after submitting the required documents.
Other banks are also offering competitive rates at the expo. Siddhartha Bank is offering auto loans at a rate equal to its base rate plus a 1% premium, with its base rate standing at 5.13%, resulting in a loan rate of 6.13%. The bank charges a processing fee of just 0.5%.
NMB Bank has introduced an EV-focused auto loan scheme, allowing customers to get loans by adding a 0.5% premium to the bank's base rate, which is 5.11%, making the effective rate 5.61%. Notably, NMB Bank has started offering loans for the purchase of reconditioned EVs for the first time in Nepal.
Hulas Finserv has also introduced an easy financing scheme for the NAIMA Expo, providing loans for both new and used vehicles without charging a service fee.

Although Nabil Bank is not participating in the NAIMA Expo, it is offering auto loans at 5.44%. Customers taking the loan will have to pay a 0.75% administrative fee and a 0.15% commitment fee.
Other banks not participating in the expo are offering vehicle loans by adding around 0.5% to 1% premium to their base rates, resulting in interest rates around 6% to 6.5%.
The NAIMA Expo 2026, organized by the Nepal Automobiles Importers and Manufacturers Association, has seen banks like Global IME, Siddhartha, and NMB partner with the event to provide special offers and services. Visitors can choose their desired vehicle and register for loans directly at the expo stalls, where banks facilitate the application process. The expo, running until the end of July, aims to promote sustainable, green, and tech-friendly transportation systems in Nepal. The event features significant participation from both domestic and multinational vehicle manufacturers and importers, showcasing new models of electric cars, e-scooters, and commercial electric vehicles.

The competitive loan rates at the NAIMA Expo reflect the banks' strategies to attract customers amid excess liquidity in the banking system, which currently exceeds Rs. 13 trillion due to weak credit demand. With the cost of deposits falling, the average bank base rate has dropped to around 5%, bringing lending rates to near-record lows.
