BYD’s premium EV brand Denza will officially launch the Z9S electric sedan in China on 23 September 2026. This is a mid-to-large luxury sedan aimed at buyers who want very long range and strong performance from a battery EV.
Range, battery and performance
Denza claims a maximum CLTC range of 1,100 km on a single full charge, which would make the Z9S one of the longest-range electric cars in series production today. The sedan uses BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery, with packs around 102 kWh and 122.5 kWh depending on variant, and three CLTC range options of 780 km, 920 km and 1,100 km.
A high-performance tri-motor all-wheel-drive version is rated at around 1,210 hp (about 890 kW). Denza says this variant can do 0–100 km/h in 2.68 seconds, putting it in supercar territory.
Charging and tech
The Z9S supports flash charging, with the brand claiming 10% to 70% battery charge in about 5 minutes under ideal conditions. Exact real-world times will depend on the charger and temperature, so Nepali buyers should treat this as a best-case number.
The car is more than 5 metres long but uses rear-wheel steering to help with low-speed manoeuvres, which matters in tight city spaces and parking.

Inside, the Z9S is positioned as a proper luxury car. Key features include:
- Nappa leather seats
- Roof-mounted lidar as part of the God-Eye 5.0 smart driving system
- Extended reality (XR) digital display
- 12-speaker audio system
Variants and China pricing
Denza will offer three variants of the Z9S, focusing on either maximum range or performance. Pre-sale prices in China have been indicated between about USD 45,700 and USD 55,700, which works out to roughly Rs 61 lakh to Rs 74 lakh at current exchange rates, before any local taxes. These are China-market figures only.
What this could mean for Nepal
There is no official confirmation for Nepal launch, pricing or bookings yet. Any arrival here would depend on a local BYD or Denza partner, import duties and how fast ultra-long-range EVs gain traction in our market.
For Nepali buyers watching global EV trends, the Denza Z9S shows where high-end electric sedans are heading. If it eventually comes here at a sensible price, it could become a reference point for long-range luxury EVs in Nepal.
