Toyota has unveiled the 2026 Hilux in the Indian market, showcasing a significant redesign and enhanced features that are likely to appeal to Nepali buyers. Known for its popularity as a lifestyle pickup in Nepal, the new Hilux is expected to generate considerable interest.

Variants and expected pricing for Nepal

In India, the 2026 Hilux is available in three automatic variants: GX 4×2 AT, GX 4×4 AT, and VX 4×4 AT. Prices start from around Rs 32 lakh equivalent and go up to about Rs 37 lakh equivalent (ex‑showroom India). After accounting for import duties and local costs, this could translate to well over Rs 1 crore in Nepal, similar to the current price range. Exact pricing will be confirmed by Toyota’s local distributor.

Design and body

The updated Hilux retains Toyota’s IMV body‑on‑frame platform and is sold as a double‑cab only in India. The design overhaul includes a new body-color honeycomb grille, replacing the previous hexagonal design, and slim LED headlamps. Additional features include muscular bumpers, skid plates, and new 17-inch matte black alloy wheels. The rear tailgate now features large "TOYOTA" lettering, and a new integrated bed step and footboard have been added. These changes give the Hilux a more modern and aggressive look.

Interior and features

Inside, the 2026 Hilux offers a more premium cabin with soft-touch finish seats and a revised dashboard layout featuring a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, Toyota i-Connect, and an 8-speaker audio system. Safety features are comprehensive, with 7 airbags, vehicle stability control, ABS with brake assist, and a 360-degree camera.

Engine and drivetrain

The Hilux is powered by Toyota’s 2.8-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, producing 204 PS and 500 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The variants include:

  • GX 4×2 AT: rear‑wheel drive, automatic
  • GX 4×4 AT / VX 4×4 AT: four‑wheel drive, automatic

This setup is familiar to Nepali Hilux owners for its robust performance.

Colours

The 2026 Hilux in India is available in six colours: Sulphur Metallic, Platinum Pearl White Metallic, Attitude Black, Ash, Emotional Red, and Super White. These are likely to be offered in Nepal as well.

What it means for Nepali buyers

As one of Nepal’s most popular lifestyle pickups, the Hilux is used for both personal and business purposes. The 2026 model adds more technology and a sharper design while retaining the trusted 2.8-litre diesel and 4×4 hardware. While the exact launch timeline and price for Nepal are not confirmed, Nepal AutoMart anticipates the 2026 Hilux will arrive soon, likely at a premium due to the added features.
